An ambulance had to be brought on the pitch in the first minute of a Turkish Super Lig game after a player fell unconscious on Saturday.

The worrying incident saw the action halted for several minutes as Goztepe midfielder Isaac Solet was attended to by medical staff.

Just moments after the game between Goztepe and Samsunspor kicked off, the Central African Republic international was involved in a clash of heads and was immediately knocked unconscious.

The 23-year-old was initially treated on the pitch before being taken to a nearby hospital where he is said to have regained consciousness.

A statement from the club read: ‘Our player Isaac Solet, who was hit in the head during an aerial challenge with an opposing player in the first minute of the match against Samsunspor, lost consciousness for a short time, but is now conscious and in good health.

‘Our player is being kept under observation in the hospital for control purposes. We convey our wishes for a speedy recovery to our player.’

Goztepe took the lead in the 13th minute following an own goal from Zeki Yavru, but the hosts equalised courtesy of a goal from Marius Mouandilmadji.

Romulo Cardoso restored Goztepe’s lead before the break and Juan Santos da Silva looked to have put the result beyond doubt when he made it 3-1 after half-time.

However, Samsunspor battled back in the closing stages and a goal from Kingsley Schindler and a Olivier Ntcham double were enough to secure them all three points.
