Micah Richards couldn’t help but inject with a crude comment which left fellow panellist in stitches and CBS Sports’ studio stunned silent live on air.

The former Manchester City defender is a regular pundit for the broadcaster alongside Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher, while presenter Kate Abdo attempts to bring order to the boisterous trio.

However, on Tuesday night, she was undone by Richards’ witty – if a little risque – remark when discussing the prospects of French side Brest in this year’s Champions League.

The European Cup debutants recorded a stunning 4-0 win over RB Salzburg to make it two wins from two, joining Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the group phase.

‘It’s a big one,’ Henry said, looking ahead to the Ligue 1 side’s next fixture in the competition, which sees them welcome Xabi Alonso’s men to Stade Francis Le Ble.

That line prompted giggles from Carragher and Richards before Abdo, herself tickled by the comment, tried to wrestle it back on topic.

Only for Richards to comment: ‘It’s a bit lopsided I think.’ That remark sent several members of the production crew into hysterics, while Abdo covered her face to conceal her laughter.

Henry, meanwhile, tried his best to keep a straight face by flapping at his notes, which he stared at intensely.

Order had largely been restored after a few moments, with an interview with Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi on the agenda.

The German had fired a first-half hat-trick to help Nuri Sahin’s side rout Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic 7-1 at the Westfalenstadion. The remaining Dortmund goals were scored by Emre Can, Felix Nmecha and Serhou Guirassy, who bagged a brace.

The result is Celtic’s second-heaviest European defeat, only eclipsed by their 7-0 loss to Barcelona during Rodgers’ first spell with the club. The former Liverpool and Leicester boss has also presided over a 7-1 defeat by PSG and 6-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
