Mohamed Salah set a new Champions League record as he scored an excellent goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at home to Bologna.

After Alexis Mac Allister had opened the scoring in the first half, Salah made it 2-0 in fine fashion as he found the net in the 75th minute.

Salah has set plenty of records throughout his time at Liverpool.

For instance, he has the most Champions League goals for an English club with 42.

He also holds the record for the quickest Champions League hat-trick by a substitute having scored three times in just six minutes and 12 seconds against Rangers in 2022.

Following his hat-trick against Bologna, Salah is now the highest African goalscorer in Champions League history.

Salah has now scored one more goal in the competition than Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who mustered 44.

Salah has now surpassed Didier Drogba as the top African goalscorer in Champions League history

Samuel Eto’o, meanwhile, is in third place with 30 goals.

The vast majority of Salah’s Champions League goals have come for Liverpool, although he did score twice in the competition for Basel in 2013.

Liverpool have won both of their games so far in the Champions League this season, with the win against Bologna following on from their success against AC Milan.

The next game in the competition for Arne Slot’s side is an away fixture against RB Leipzig later this month.
