Rasmus Hojlund has responded to furious Manchester United fans after an Instagram post in the wake of the team’s 3-3 draw against Porto on Thursday.

Hojlund scored his first goal for the Red Devils this season to put Erik ten Hag’s side 2-0 up over their Portuguese rivals in the Europa League.

But United squandered their two-goal advantage and needed a 91st-minute goal from Harry Maguire to rescue a 3-3 draw.

It was a disappointing display from United, who also lost Bruno Fernandes to a red card in the 81st minute.

But the result did not stop Hojlund from posting on Instagram after the game as he uploaded several pictures of his goal celebration.

The Dane posted about his goal and subsequent celebration on Instagram after the match

However, United blew their 2-0 lead and needed a late equaliser as the game finished 3-3

The Dane captioned the post: ‘Luckily I had 6 weeks to practice my celebration. A win would’ve made it perfect.’

However, not all United fans were enthralled and some criticised Hojlund for posting so soon after a poor result that heaped more pressure on the under-fire Ten Hag.

Hojlund did not delete the post but has since responded to angry supporters on his Instagram story.

‘I’ve seen some anger about my post of yesterday,’ Hojlund wrote.

‘I never intended that… I was only happy to be back out there on the scoresheet again after a tough few weeks where I couldn’t play and score.

‘Obviously we go for the win and I will give everything to make you guys happy, sorry yesterday’s post was not the case.

‘Let’s move on, getting ready to give everything again on Sunday.’

Hojlund’s goal against Porto came in his first start of the campaign as he picked up a muscle injury in his first pre-season match.

The 3-3 draw against Porto kept the pressure on Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag

He replaced summer signing Joshua Zirkzee as the focal point in United’s attack and will hope to reprise his role when the Red Devils face Aston Villa on Sunday.

The trip to Villa Park looms as a crucial fixture for Ten Hag as he fights to save his job amid a poor start to the season.

United sit 13th in the league having lost three of their six Premier League fixtures this season and are yet to win in the Europa League having drawn their opening game against FC Twente 1-1.
