Revealed: Why Man City will NOT be wearing their home strip against Inter Milan as Pep Guardiola’s side embark on their Champions League campaign

Manchester City will kick-start their bid for a second Champions League title against Inter Milan on Wednesday evening, but won’t be playing in their usual blue strip despite playing at home.

All eyes are on the Etihad as Pep Guardiola attempts to guide his squad of superstars through the newly-formatted league phase of Europe’s premier club competition.

City will get their campaign started against reigning Serie A champions Inter in Manchester, but fans will see the Premier League contestants debut a new shirt instead.

Erling Haaland has one game remaining to break one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s legendary records, while Inter are attempting to pull off a shock result at the home of the English champions.

City will then take on Sporting Lisbon, Juventus and PSG in their next Champions League fixtures that could see them continue to showcase a new exclusive shirt that has been inspired by Oasis.

The legendary Manchester-based rock and roll band recently announced the group – led by City fanatic brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher – are getting back together and the club have got in on the action.

City will instead debut a new fourth strip against Inter that has been inspired by Oasis’ 30th anniversary of their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’.

Guardiola and several of his stars were involved in a photoshoot recreating the band’s iconic album cover that featured a preview of the new top that will debut against Inter.

The shirt has been aptly named the ‘The Definitely City kit’ and will be worn during a variety of select Champions League ties throughout the season.

Noel Gallagher previously hailed the collaboration, telling City Studios: ‘It’s a proper honour.

‘When the guys from PUMA approached us at one of the games, I took about five seconds to agree to it.

‘It’s the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe. I think it’s unique, but it’s definitely striking and I think it looks great.

‘When you see people represent your Club, it’s important that they look good.

‘Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me. I just think it’s an amazing snapshot of what we were about.

‘With the anniversary, I’ve been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it. You know, it makes me smile. They were great times. Really, really great. I mean, it’s spawned a great football kit. So its legacy lives on.’
