Premier League club’s midweek game is set to be called off for FLOODING amid Britain’s ‘megastorm’

A Premier League club is set to see their midweek match called off due to flooding.

It is currently unclear how the rescheduling will affect their calendar moving forward.

Multiple top-flight sides are supposed to be in action in the third round of the Carabao Cup this week.

Those clubs are Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, Aston Villla, and Leicester City.

However, Newcastle are expected to miss out due to flooding in and around AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane stadium.

Let’s hope we don’t get anymore rain.

A prominent podcast covering the League Two club, The Wombles had a Dream, claims that even the changing rooms are flooded after pumps at the stadium failed.

Local Newcastle outlet The Chronicle has reported that the Dons have declared their pitch ‘unplayable’ and that the club shave been in talks over playing the tie at St James’ Park.

However, given the organisation, ticketing and safety measures that would need to be put in place, that would likely not be any time soon.

Eddie Howe was due to hold a press conference today but that has been cancelled.
