Son Heung-Min has opened up on his Tottenham future and revealed he is yet to enter talks with the club over a new contract.

Son, 32, has scored 164 goals in 414 appearances for Spurs since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

The South Korean star has become a firm fan favourite in north London and was appointed as club captain at the start of last season.

Son’s current deal is set to expire next summer, raising alarm over his future, although Ange Postecoglou’s side do have an option to trigger a one-year extension.

Mail Sport understands Spurs are relaxed about Son’s contractual situation and expect to activate the option, meaning Son would be tied down until the summer of 2026.

But, speaking ahead of their opening Europa League game against Azerbaijani side Qarabag on Thursday, Son explained that no discussions have taken place about potentially extending that further.

‘We haven’t talked about anything yet,’ he told reporters. ‘It was very clear for me, I’m very focused for this season. At this age, every second is like a goal.

‘Especially this season, we are in a lot of competitions, it feels like I’m taking even more care about this.’

When pressed further on his future, Son – who is in his 10th season with the club – insisted he was not distracted by the speculation and is desperate to finally lift a trophy with Spurs.

‘I’m just fully focused on this situation and this year,’ he added. ‘I just want to win something that everybody in this club and these players and all around deserves.

‘That’s what I’m working for. In the future, you never know what’s going to happen.

‘But I will make sure I give everything for this club. It’s almost ten years that I give everything.

‘We’ll see what happens. I still have a contract with the club which is the main important thing. I just want to give everything while I have my contract.’
